Lauren Koster
Managing Attorney
Ms. Koster is Managing Attorney at Nonprofits Counsel. She brings nearly five years of legal experience, including clerkships at the United District Court for the District of New Hampshire and the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, and a Skadden Fellowship representing children in juvenile rights matters, including in school-based education issues and in Massachusetts Juvenile Court. Prior to her legal career, she was a public school teacher and policy advocate in Connecticut and has worked with nonprofit entities throughout her career. Since joining Nonprofits Counsel, she has represented several tax-exempt entities on a wide range of matters, including two Connecticut charter schools in an administrative and state court matter.
Ms. Koster is an alumna of Yale College. She received her juris doctor, cum laude, from Boston College Law School. She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and Connecticut and is also a member of the bars of the U.S. District Courts for the Districts of New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Her admission to the New York bar is pending.
Katie Roy
Founder & Consulting Attorney
Ms. Roy is Founder and Consulting Attorney at Nonprofits Counsel. She brings more than fifteen years of experience in law, finance, and education policy in the public and private sectors. She has served as a nonprofit executive director, chief financial officer, and general counsel. Currently, she serves as Partner and General Counsel at Education Resources Strategies, a national nonprofit organization headquartered in Greater Boston. No longer accepting new clients, she provides ad hoc legal consultation to the firm.
Ms. Roy is an alumna of Vassar College and Connecticut College. She received her juris doctor and certificate in tax studies, magna cum laude, from the University of Connecticut School of Law. She is admitted to practice in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
