From Beacon Hill to the Beltway, Alex brings a breadth and depth of public interest experience in labor, employment, and education law.
Before joining Nonprofits Counsel, Alex served in the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of General Counsel in Washington, DC. There, he was a legislative lawyer overseeing a broad portfolio. His focus included civil rights, special education, elementary and secondary education, higher education, charter schools, and workforce development. Prior to that, Alex practiced labor and employment law, first at a firm in DC where he represented public sector employees and unions with whistleblower retaliation, wage and hour, and civil rights claims in Federal court, administrative proceedings, and labor arbitration. He then got an insider’s perspective in managing the country’s largest workforce when he served as an Attorney Advisor for the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board. In that role, he advised the Board on novel issues arising in the course of administering Federal personnel laws.
Prior to law school, Alex worked as a committee staffer in the Massachusetts State House. He continues to volunteer at his alma mater, Salem State University, including most recently as a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors. Whether in the courtroom or the boardroom, Alex is an advocate for his clients and the causes in which he believes.
